Life is meant to be lived; cherish the exciting moments, and relish in those all too brief moments of relaxation. I am here to live my own life, and live it passionately. Lucy Learns... serves as a vessel to project my passions, and clue in my loyal readers as to what inspires me in this crazy world. So, sit back, relax, and read on.

I believe you must bring your whole self to the table if you want to thrive in today’s crazy world; your personality, your sense of humor, and most importantly, your heart. Authenticity in everything we do is of utmost importance to me. What does that mean? That I am aware and informed in my choices and decision making. I allow myself room to make mistakes and to grow. May we all be students of life and receive our lessons with an open heart and gain further understanding.
I started Lucy Learns because I had thoughts I needed to get out my head and share; on the off chance that maybe they made sense and someone might find them useful... I invite you to take a moment and read, take what you need and leave what you don't. After all I am but one voice and I'm still learning too. xo

Did you know that when you hit 30 your body goes through a second puberty?! Yeah, neither did I until it happened. I promise you it's a real thing... all of a sudden your clothes no longer fit [not because of weight gain, oh no, your hips actually just got wider]. Does...

Checking in.

So, I’ve had a little hiatus from posting since before Christmas, not that the thoughts haven’t been swirling and brewing… The notion of sitting down and writing them out has just felt like this giant invisible brick wall. I’ve set the task to update, write...

Motional lability: the emotional rollercoaster sometimes experienced with Severe Brain injury. It doesn't mean that you are necessarily experiencing those emotions, for me it's typically tears. Rather I find that when my brain has "had enough" or can't take in anything...

My recovery is still ongoing, I'm not healed yet, I'm not better but I'm not where I was and I have improved. This will take time but I am determined to stay positive and to get better sooner than later.

However, I also give myself permission to rest when I'm needed an...

Concussions are weird. You look "healthy" you want to feel healthy but then there's these roadblocks that come from nowhere. I was just like you, I didn't really understand what a concussion was let alone what it meant to have one. I literally told my students "don't w...

Believe it or not as humans we have choices. Whether it be as simple as if you will tie your hair back or more complex as to whether or not you will take that new job. It's choice, a decision to get up, to get dressed, to show up to class and rehearse, to wear those he...

With so many options people are still getting married, non- religious ceremonies even simply as a statement of commitment, we have seen some fun new trends with wedding celebrations. This is for you love birds who have made the decision that you're getting hitched, and...

Have you ever considered that as an adult you are allowing others to bully you, which when you think about it kind of makes you responsible too. I emphasize adults here because children and their nuances are a completely different can of worms. As a child who was bulli...

Say what now? Isn't it meant to be turned on? No.

Following up from the balance and boundaries blog posts my new favourite habit is turning off technology. Airplane mode - that dreaded button that disconnects us from the world and wi-fi *gasp*. I press that sucker every...

When it comes to living life in today's easily accessible realm I am finding that more and more I need boundaries. It's been a constant theme and struggle over the past year but I think I finally figured it out [almost].

I struggle a lot with boundaries in general, as...
