What is this so called balance and how do we find it?

I've often struggled with balance, life and career typically being at opposite ends of the pendulum swing. Despite my best efforts at maintaining balance I still tend to sit at the 'must always be busy end of that pendulum - at any given time I am certain everyone around me has commented "I can't believe how busy you are, or how you do it!" to which I retort "haha, still working on balance! It's not long term afterall"... 20 something yrs later... I don't know how to change it, it's all I've known. I have this immense sense of guilt whenever I have downtime, like I should be doing more even though I am mentally and physically exhausted. Drive isn't a bad thing, it got me where I am today, however, balance - that word that hangs over me and is, as ever, elusive. I'm an all or nothing, two feet in or run a mile gal. How do I change?
The first step: I've decided to change my perspective, to lose the guilt. My aim as of today is to try and focus on the areas of my life that bring me joy. I am finding more and more that stress is a choice. I choose simplicity. I choose minimal stress and maximum downtime with my family instead. To continue to pursue the things that enrich my soul - meeting new people hearing their stories and being mindful of those amazing individuals who support me regardless and taking time for them. It's going to be a hard journey, bad habits are hard to break but they can be broken. New ones, with dedication and repetition can be made. I don't want to live a life that's one sided, not when I am fortunate to live in a place where I can have a choice. I am finding the balance, now comes the task of implementing it.
